Coronavirus: 3 Tennessee Titans players, 5 personnel test positive for COVID-19

The Tennessee Titans suspended in-person training and other club activities Tuesday after three players and five other personnel tested positive for COVID-19, according to the NFL. The diagnoses mark the first coronavirus outbreak of the NFL season.

League officials said the Minnesota Vikings, who faced off Sunday against the Titans, also suspended in-person club activities on Tuesday.

“Both clubs are working closely with the NFL and the NFLPA, including our infectious disease experts, to evaluate close contacts, perform additional testing and monitor developments,” the NFL said in a statement. “All decisions will be made with health and safety as our primary consideration.”

Officials with the Vikings said Tuesday that none of the team’s players or staff members have so far tested positive for the viral infection.

The diagnoses in the NFL’s fourth week of play could jeopardize the Titans' upcoming game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. In a statement obtained by WPXI, Steelers spokesman Burt Lauten said the team has been told to continue “preparations for Sunday’s game until we are informed otherwise.”

The Vikings are set to play the Houston Texans on Sunday.
