Iowa man accused of squeezing 6-month-old baby’s head, then dropping her

DES MOINES — An Iowa man is accused of squeezing the head of a 6-month-old baby and then dropping her, authorities said Monday.

Dakota Castle, 21, of Des Moines, was charged with child endangerment-serious injury, according to Polk County online jail records.

He was released from jail Tuesday morning, according to online records.

According to court documents, Castle was caring for the girl and became frustrated when she would not stop crying, KCCI reported. Castle admitted to squeezing the baby’s head “in a manner that he knew was too hard,” the television station reported.

Castle said the child kicked him in the chest and he dropped her to the ground, according to court documents. The girl suffered injuries that included bruising, according to court documents.

Court documents did not indicate Castle’s relationship to the child, KCCI reported. The child’s condition has not been released, the television station reported.
