A docuseries about Kanye West is heading to Netflix after the streamer acquired it for $30 million.  It is set to premiere later this year.

Billboard reports that the documentary series has been in the works for the past 21 years and is the brainchild of filmmakers Clarence "Coodie" Simmons and Chike Ozah.

The duo, who also go by Coodie & Chike, directed West's 2003 debut music videos "Through the Wire" and "Jesus Walks pt. 3."  They have been friends with the rapper since the 90s and will build the docuseries around their decades-long friendship.

In addition, the two will also frame West's story around his explosive career, his highs and lows in his personal and professional life, his 2020 bid for president and how fame has influenced his celebrity persona.

While the docuseries will focus on the loss of his mother, Donda West, it is unknown if the series will highlight his marriage and later divorce from Kim Kardashian.

Coodie & Chike will also rely on home videos and other never-before-seen content to tell West's story.

The filmmakers' Creative Control company, which also produced the 2018 Aretha Franklin flick Amazing Grace and the 2020 documentary John Lewis: Good Trouble, will helm the docuseries.

Representatives for Netflix and West have not responded to request for comment at this time.
