Biography
Chaka Khan, also known as Yvette Marie Stevens, was born in Chicago, Illinois on March 23, 1953. She is the eldest of her four siblings, two of whom are her manager. Khan is the mother of two children, daughter Indira Milini, and son Damien Holland.
Khan became a member of the funk band Rufus in 1970, were she quickly gain fame. In 1978, Khan decided to journey on her solo career while still a member of the Rufus. The funk group is known for Grammy Award winning hits such as "Tell Me Something Good", and "Ain't Nobody". While journeying on her solo career, Chaka Khan won multiple Grammy Awards. One in particular for her Billboard-topping song, "I Feel For You". Not only did "I Feel For You" top U.S. charts, this record went number one in the U.K., and remained on the Billboard Hot 100 in December 1984 for 26 weeks as number three.
