The cause behind Coolio's death has been revealed. According to the Los Angeles Coroner, the rapper passed away from effects of fentanyl, heroin and methamphetamines, with asthma, phencyclidine use and cardiomyopathy — a disease of the heart muscle that makes it difficult for the heart to deliver blood to the rest of the body — also contributing.
Coolio, born Leon Ivey Jr., died on Sept. 28, 2022 at a private residence in LA. He was 59 years old.
A posthumous single featuring Too $hort has since been released. "TAG 'You It'" is set to appear on his upcoming album, LONG LIVE COOLIO.
