According to a police report obtained by our sister station, WFXT, the student was trying to heat up ramen noodles in a school microwave on May 5 and tried to put a book in with the noodles. When the teacher told the student not to do that and tried to take the book away, the student grabbed it back.

The report says the student “then threw his cup of boiling hot ramen noodles at his teacher’s face,” WFXT reported.

The police report said that though the victim told the principal what happened, “the principal stated that they would call 911 but did not do so,” WFXT reported.

WFXT received a statement from Boston Public Schools saying, “This is an unfortunate incident that took place at McKinley, and actions were taken to ensure the safety of the staff member involved and appropriate interventions have occurred.”

Police said the teacher said she was in “excruciating pain” and “the left side of her face, ear and eye were stinging,” and went to the school nurse, who recommended she seek medical attention, WFXT reported. The teacher took herself to an urgent-care clinic and told police she would see a doctor to evaluate the burns.
