Update 3:39 p.m. EST Dec. 28: Modest Mouse confirmed news of Green’s diagnosis on its official Instagram page. In the post, band member Isaac Brock said, “Some of you may have already heard, but I figured it would be good to hear the news directly from our camp. Jeremiah was diagnosed with cancer a short while ago, and he’s currently in treatment. It seems to be going smoothly and making a positive difference.”

In the post, Brock asked fans to send “good vibes” to Jeremiah and his family.

Original Report:

Green’s mother, Carol Namatame, announced Green’s diagnosis on her Facebook page on Christmas, saying, “Please send healing vibes for my son, Jeremiah Green, who is battling stage 4 cancer. He is so strong and so brave and hanging in there!”

Radio DJ Marco Collins shared a photo of Green on his Facebook page, saying, “Just found out my friend Jeremiah Green (Modest Mouse) has pulled off the band’s tour because he is currently undergoing chemo treatments to battle stage 4 cancer. Despite having a stage 4 diagnosis, his prognosis is good! Also his oncologists is a big MM fan (so he’s got that in his corner!)”

Neither Namatame nor Collins elaborated on what type of cancer Green has been diagnosed with.

Modest Mouse just finished a tour celebrating the 25th anniversary of its 1997 album, “The Lonesome Crowded West,” the Los Angeles Times reported.

It is unclear when Green left the tour. People reported fan videos of Green performing with Modest Mouse as recently as Dec. 1 in Los Angeles. Modest Mouse is scheduled to perform at three Lollapalooza South America music festivals in March.

Green is a founding member of Modest Mouse, which was founded in Issaquah, Washington, in 1992, the Los Angeles Times reported. Green has remained the band’s drummer since the band’s formation, with the exception of the 2004 album, “Good News for People Who Love Bad News.”
