Rapper Roxanne Shanté making history set to receive Grammy’s Lifetime Achievement Award

The first solo female rapper recognized with that distinguished award

Congratulations going out to legendary rapper Roxanne Shante’! She’s making history at the Grammy’s this weekend, set to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Queens native will be the first solo female rapper to receive the honor.

Roxanne Shante’ hit the music scene in 1984 and first gained attention through the Roxanne Wars and was part of the Juice Crew. The 2017 film Roxanne Roxanne is a dramatization of her life.

She’s a true hip hop pioneer!
